Last night was one of those bad nights I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep if I stayed in my own bed, so I sought refuge elsewhere. Before turning in, my friend put her hand on my arm and said 'Don't think so much'. That to me was the equivalent of being tucked into bed and being told everything would be all right. The last person to ever tuck me in was my mother, back when I was 12 and we still shared the same bed while my dad was away. We used to hold hands until either of us would drift off to sleep.
These days I find myself wanting to run into the arms of another. It doesn't matter whose. I desire being held onto and shielded from the bad stuff. I want to fall asleep freely knowing that someone else will fight the fire for me.
If you read this, say a little prayer. I said a little prayer everyday for the past 14 days except today. I don't know what end I'm praying to anymore.
