Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby present the richness of the English language...

1. "It was just the dog and this."
To be used to refute instances where sweeping generalisations are made based on perfunctory evidence.

2. Last week I had an exchange of words with a man who would not let me say my peace. When I finally got a word in, he continued to insist on his interpretation of the matter. Ever had someone accuse you of something over and over in spite of your logical counter-argument? Or talk down to you as if he knew your mind better than you knew it? Well, I've been hunting for the word to sum this behaviour up. The best I have come up with so far is "pig-headed". The thesaurus yields "mulish", "heedless", "unpliable", "dogged", "dense" and "single-minded" as close seconds. Note to self: please memorise these words and use them freely in instances where "fucktard" is the only word that comes to mind but which doesn't even come close to conveying to the individual just how impermeable his thick skull is. "Impermeable" is also a good word, I reckon.

AH. I have the word. That simple, all-encompassing word that has eluded me since Tuesday. "Impossible".
