In the last vignette in Paris, Je T'aime, a woman takes a lone trip to Paris. As she sits in a park by herself, she observes the people around her and silently contemplates her happiness. As she reflects on the life and friends she's left behind at home, she realises that she is re-learning something she has forgotten.

Sometimes, when you don't make the effort to keep a memory alive, it's very easy to forget. The very act of living can make you complacent. You forget those fleeting flashes where you ever felt inspired, stimulated, on a total high. This woman sitting alone in a park realised, bittersweetly, that she felt alive. That completely hit home for me.

I've spoken about this exact same feeling just two posts ago. That aliveness is a surge of energy through your body. You feel transported away from your life, it's as if being in a new place, the dust on your old self, your real self lifts and you can see what lies at the core of your being once more. This is my ground zero. This is me without pressure or influence. This could actually be me on my best behaviour.

What a film.
