how did you meet no.14? Lydia, Lisa and I were neighbours when we were kids.

what would you do if you never met no.1? I would not have had as much fun in uni as I had!

So a friend of mine was going through his inbox and found some old emails he'd sent out before. This prompted me to do the same. I found the email he sent me last August, feeling surprised and yet unsurprised as I read the things he'd written. I seem to have uncovered something here. I don't have words, but if I saw him now I would smile and put a hand on his shoulder. It stands for love and friendship and empathy and affirmation. He'd probably say 'this is like, so naff' but for once I am returning his one moment of pure uninhibition with my sincere goodwill.

Nothing pleases me like honesty does, which is why sometimes I like to visit the post secret website just to see what people are coming clean about. I think it's extremely liberating for everyone involved. It's a well-known, yet little-acknowledged fact that we are a lot more similar than we think. If we spent more time talking freely and openly and less time building walls of defence around us, we could see that our experiences, though diverse, meet at many points. Perhaps it's good that I don't have this kind of relationship with every person I meet. Because then those few people I share this kind of openness with will always be that bit more special to me.
