Today is one of those days when I just feel extremely crabby, for no particular reason whatsoever. I was awakened by a phone call at 10.30am (I suspect this has a lot to do with my general feeling of wretchedness), after which I hauled myself out of bed and propelled myself out of the house by 11 to go for a pre-employment medical check-up.
The taxi driver dropped me off at the wrong building--it's easy to confuse OUB and UOB I suppose. Oh, and it was raining while I crossed the road very slowly to avoid slipping, but that's a minor detail. So anyway, I really hate medical check-ups. They bring me face to face with my own inadequacy. Plus, I hate being prodded, and even more than that I hate the fear that they'll find something wrong with me. Well this medical test sucked. The numbers they gave me were so fucking small they looked like dots, which is just not fair because how am I supposed to read them when my contact lenses are glued to two very tired eyeballs? What's the worst score I can get? 60/60? WHATEVER!
After surviving a urine test, an X-ray (you know when they tell you to inhale and hold it, then leave you inside the room and take their own sweet time to operate the machine while you asphyxiate?) and a blood test, I was released into the lunchtime crowd swarming the city. To cut a painfully long story short, I got lost looking for the bus stop. I walked and walked and somehow ended up at the Bank of China building twice.
So although it's only 1.24pm right now, I am already exhausted. There are only two things that will keep me going till the end of today, and it is not the season finale of Desperate Housewives, because of course as luck would have it, my TV exploded last week. I look forward to receiving my Haribo sweets from my dear friend Elise tonight. Yes, two bags, all to myself, because I earned it.
