The much-awaited, highly-anticipated Mills and Boon lecture takes place tomorrow. I am sad to say though, that the book is crap. Of all erotica out there they had to pick one called R*escued By a M*illionaire, written by a local woman who insists that true to bloke form, her male protagonist must call everyone 'mate', and I personally find that super annoying. That stupid word encapsulates local false consciousness better than no other. It pre-supposes an existent male macho bond, when indeed there is nothing there, and I've heard it bandied about between people who couldn't care less about each other. Stupid saccharine camaraderie. I can see right through fake relationships and it disgusts me. BAH. But I know the real reason why this really annoys me. Anyway back to why the book is such a let-down. Since when in real life did instant attraction (read: horniness) transcend carnal desires only to let a real relationship based on non-physical attributes build! In the frigging desert no less! Everyone knows that one, whatever happens in the desert stays in the desert; two, local men and women have far less self control than they think they do; three, it is implausible to have one's breath taken away twice in the short span of one paragraph--men do not have their breaths taken away, they have an erection and their blood drains from their brain to their dick. For once I have actually been turned
off by a Mills and Boon novel. BAH!

In the days past, we've had a haircut party, a mystery tour to a mystery park in mystery Claremont ending with a mystery drive down mystery King's Park Rd past mystery couples pashing over the view of the city, a random afternoon hanging out in a kitchen in Istanbul, a free expensive dinner and a tense, long wait to check in. What a build-up to good-bye. I don't think I'm ever going to get used to saying it. God bless Matt for the great support he's lent to each of us, for his generous and loving heart. I hope our paths cross again someday, this funny American and I.
