This post is for three very special people I've known in a long, long time. Lydia, Lisa and Irene, whose birthdays fall in the month of May. When you read this, and I know you will in your own time, know how important you are to me and how dearly I hope that the year ahead will be filled with nothing but good stuff for you. Kiss kiss, hug hug, and God bless.

So today, Irene celebrated her 21st with me and Karen. She got drunk before it even started though; she downed 8 glasses of wine, was 2 hours late to meet us, and was hiccupping in the cab all the way to Equinox--where the view is breathtaking, where you can take a leak in a fancy toilet and where a bottle of still water costs $12.00. But I must say that in spite of their retarded law requiring every single dinner guest to order a main course (prices starting from $18 for fried rice) and their refusal to let us take home the aforementioned fried rice, their bread and butter is pretty damn delicious. (Irene, did they charge for the bread and butter?) Thanks for the dinner anyhow, and next time we're hitting the Mezza9.

After dinner we went down to Bar None, where the eager beaver band started way before 10.30pm. It was crowded, and when we saw an empty table in the corner we flung ourselves upon the cushioned stools without realising it was reserved. So what did Irene do? She pulled a Morton's. Yes, it was she who hid the bill from the waiter. Except that this time, she knocked the Reserved sign to the floor. But well, the party who made the reservation never showed up. At least, not at our table.

The claws are out.

I could never be with somone who is needy. On my part, the failing lies in my incapacity to deal with the demands that are lain, or sometimes dumped, on me. When that desire for my sympathy comes thick and fast, I start to suffocate. It gets worse when after the sympathy is dished out as generously as I can muster, I am still continually being smote for more and more. Sorry. Cannot deal. Am becoming like my mother.

I could also never tolerate someone who is wishy washy and hedges at the simplest question. I can sniff out excuses from A MILE AWAY and honestly, I wish that if people were going to cook up lame stuff, they'd at least deliver it with style. No ummms and hmmms about it. Met a guy yesterday who turned me off by doing just that. Like a bloody donkey. But well yes, the sin is fundamentally mine. I need to learn patience.

Accccccck.
