Name DroppingThe exams are over. Today's paper was not as bad as I thought it would be, and for that I am infinitely grateful. Also, I'm thankful for Karen and Netto's comforting words last night when I went into big-time panic mode. God, You are good.
So my fourth semester is done with. I actually had a bit of a heavy heart on my way home, thinking about how I may not be around next sem to be with everyone whom I've grown much closer to this time around.
Saturday night suppers with two of the people whom I never expected to get to know at a deeper level. That massive get-together at Grapevine on a Thursday, which I was looking forward to all day and still look back on with fondness. Celebrating the 21st's of Karen, Mitch and Mello. Pigging out at Adam Road with my CG. Attending Friday Mass more than once and always feeling blown away by the community spirit. Growing spiritually through Lent and Easter. Making a couple of new acquaintances and friends in class.
It's been a fucking fantastic semester (maybe not academically though) and I'm going to remember every moment of it.
And now the holidays are here. Time to meet up with people I've not seen in ages. Time to start waking up at 11am daily and staying in my pyjamas till it's bedtime once more. Time to start exercising. Time to be with my parents and Rocky. Time to clean up the mess. Time to visit the dentist (tee hee)!
Cosmopolitan, Malibu, rock and roll. It's finally time!

It's taken me 2 entire academic years to realise that there are actually some pretty nice people doing the same course as me. People I've been seeing around for ages but never bothered saying hi to because firstly, since coming to this school, I developed a serious anti-social complex that made me want to isolate myself and purposely hold myself back, citing differences and incompatibilities that I made up in my mind. Secondly I never said hi because I was too busy labelling them based on those conjured 'facts'. And most of of all, I never said hi because I didn't want to have to be pretentiously friendly, to take the step from saying hi to going on to making small talk, to establishing connections, then to making friends. Because very often, being introduced to someone would only end up in me looking the other way when I saw that person again later, if it did not even make it to hi-and-bye. I have come to sabotage my own possible happiness in the name of protecting my own comfort zone, my pride and security. In a way I do feel some regret that I missed so many opportunities to get to know people better, but I also do feel like it's time to take those little steps towards changing this. And that can only be a good thing.
