Although I anticipated a massive panic attack before my exam today, I was fine. Perfectly fine, in fact. Thank You.
On the way to school I had a conversation with the cab driver in Mandarin. We talked about mobile phone plans, the chinese zodiac, and How To Get a Guy (for me). Apparently the way to go about it is to single out the guy I want, and keep staring at him so as to send off 'currents'. I'm so sure. Well at least I know that if I flunk out of school, I have great career prospects as a social escort, since uncles seem to love talking to me. I will now get to the part about flunking out of school.
The exam today was really bad. I didn't manage my time, so by the time I got to my second essay I had only 45 minutes: I skipped the plan, hoping against hope that a flash of inspiration along the way would carry me through. No such luck. After writing two full pages of absolute nonsense (no thesis, no semblance of an idea that can be expanded on--I was filling up space by copying entire chunks from my notes) I was forced to conclude. Lord, I need more than a hundred million miracles. Please don't let me get another C.
Dinner after was good though. After braving two jerky bus rides to town, Karen and I got to Din Tai Fung. We shared 6 xiao long baos, 6 har gows, a plate of deep-fried marinated pork ribs and a bowl of noodles in clear chicken soup. We had grand plans to finish off with ice cream, until the man at the next table complimented us on our big appetites as he got up to leave. I was very amused then, but now I wonder why he noticed what we were eating; was his wife's company not engaging enough or what?
Post dinner workout at Watson's. I have learnt that Karen's shopping habits are out of control. The proof: she walks in to buy panty liners but walks out with a brand new bag instead. While we were deciding which bag she should get, we noticed a guy buying at least ten packs of disposable underwear. He could build a tower out of those packages man. In fact, I only noticed him because he had stacked them into a tower in the first place. He's either headed for the jungle of Taiwan, or he's running away from home. Or his girlfriend has a penchant for ripping his tighty-whities off. Some people are so sick.

Where to find it?The gift that Jesus chose to give, which he explained in John 14:27-31, was peace. True and lasting peace. A peace that calms troubled hearts. A peace that drives away our fears.
