Some of the songs that will remind me of Aussie land for ever and ever and ever:
Yeah - Usher
I Don't Want You Back (uncensored)- Eamon
Bounce - Sarah Connor
Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane
Dreams - Fleetwood Mac
Look What You've Done - Jet
I luuuuuve.
Thankfully the weather hasn't been too hot. Now I shall go indulge in chicken curry. It
is sort of blissful to be back. And surprisingly I'm not even that lazy anymore, I don't feel compelled to jump into a cab wherever I go. Hope it lasts!

I'm sitting in Lisa's kitchen right now while she is getting ready for school. It's her birthday today and I am aware of how little time left we have together. Like how when Suede's 2003 concert started and I knew from the first riff that it would soon be over, I kinda knew from the minute I stepped in yesterday that I would soon be leaving. I hate this! I actually don't want to come home.
It has come to Debs' attention that whenever someone asks me where I'm from, my voice falls a few decibels, not to mention a few pitches lower. It's like a cross between Terminator and Cher growling 'Singapore'. Anyhow Debs seems to think that I'm not very happy about where I come from. If you ask me... superficially I think Singapore is great. That's where my family is, that's where I've grown up, and it's surely done something good for me in the past 20 years.
But... I don't wanna come home. Not to a rat race. Not to a steaming hot climate. Not to kiasuism and competitiveness and high stress. Not to 1000 people per sq. km. What I like about Australia is the fact that first and foremost, no one judges you by what you do or how you dress. They're not gonna look at you and say 'Oh my what are you gonna do with a Lit degree?' or 'How far can you go with a high school education?' or 'Why are you spending your 4 month break working as a waitress when you should be building up our resume?'
I kinda like the fact that here I don't have to be 100% bitch. I'm not just some faceless entity, I get really good service here but I'm not made to feel as if I'm paying out of my nose for first class consumer treatment, or as if I'm being patronised. How about the fact that the handicapped here are really well provided for, and they aren't just forced to keep out of sight and out of mind in a nursing home? Maybe back home there are just so many people in your face that it's easy to forget how to be truly human. I dunno, it's just a thought.
