We have new neighbours, and the wife likes to come around and tell my mum about her daughter's job as some designer, about her son failing the final round of his pilot test, about her husband's business ventures, her granddaughter, basically giving her the crash course to
Our Life. My mum repeats these stories over lunch and dinner which is seriously pissing me off because I don't quite give a fuck about these people. Yeah sure, friendly people are nice, but what happens when your new not-so-best friend shows up on your doorstep and is just too close for comfort? What does she expect me to say to 'Oh, our neighbour's daughter is so good at her job that her ex boss still gives her assignments'... 'Our neighbour wants to know if their tortoise can bunk in with our tortoise'...Umm, right... why would I want to show interest in somebody else's mundane life?
The real question of today is WHY THE FUCK DO SOME PEOPLE HAVE NO QUALMS ABOUT IMPOSING THEMSELVES ON OTHERS?? DON'T THEY KNOW IT'S BLOODY DISGUSTING?! DON'T THEY KNOW THAT PEOPLE WHO TRY TOO HARD GENERALLY COME OFF AS IRRITATING???????? DON'T THEY KNOW THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO OUTSTAY YOUR WELCOME? THAT FAMILIARITY BREEDS CONTEMPT??? THAT NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO BE YOUR FRIEND? THAT PEOPLE LIKE THEIR SPACE?????????
UGH.

I feel trivial, sitting here with nothing of importance to talk about. I want to talk about how I feel lonely at the prospect of saying goodbye, but I can't be honest. I want to talk about fear, but I can't bring myself to be vulnerable.
Say hi to Maisy. Kancheong's wife.
